The one and only Carroll Shelby has died at age 89.

A racer turned car designer, Shelby was responsible for some of the most iconic cars of his time, from the Shelby Cobra to the Mustang GT500.

For you Nic Cage fans, a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 had a starring role as the only good thing about the movie Gone in 60 Seconds.

As a lifelong Ford and Mustang fan, I tip my hat to you, Mr. Shelby. Thanks for making good cars go faster.
